Happy 796th Anniversary of the signing of the Magna Carta!!!
This formative document is one of my favorites, because it explains/justifies why our American fathers felt rather uncomfortable emptying their piggy banks to pay for a tax that been imposed despite their protests and despite the fact that no Yank represented the colonies in the esteemed halls of the House of Commons. So, I'd say this is a pretty important for Americans to remember and give a hoot for the English nobles who wanted to put limits on that tyrant of a king, John, who was trying to start some sort of absolute monarchy, before divine right of kings was even a topic of debate among the Royals of Europe. Yay for the Great Charter!
