Why are women excluded from MANkind?

On the Merriam-Webster online dictionary there is a featured video today about "the awkward case of his or her." It certainly is an awkward case, but it is not an awkward case of grammar but an awkward result of feminism. They just have to make everything so complicated! Why can't women be included in a general "him"? Why can't a random, general person in a paper or speech be referred to as he? And then if you use "they" to avoid the controversy, the whole case thing really is a problem.
And why is mankind, that poetical, beautiful word, suddenly banned from vocabulary? We have to use "humanity," really?
So, my lady friends, the real problem is that the feminists have robbed us of our share in mankind. But I personally think that's a little more than awkward.

Dear America,
Bad choice.
But, God still sits on His throne, and holds the heart of kings and presidents in his hands! He is not perplexed or confused by this election. It is part of His sovereign plan. And so I remain, disappointed but not discouraged - and ready for the political struggles that will probably come in next four years.
Love,
